I picked up a 330 a couple weeks ago cheap and replaced the intake boot and fuel lines, and rebuilt the Walbro carb. Got it running, but it sure is hard to start when cold. So I got the flywheel off to look at the points and condenser. There WASN'T any. Somebody had obviously switched it over to electronic. So I thought "just great". A voodoo conversion which is probably out of time, like the Stihl 031 conversions I've seen. The coil has a name on it: Phelon. And the flywheel has the same name on it. Was there a conversion kit marketed for these that included the coil/electronic ignition and flywheel?. If so, maybe there's hope that this isn't just another boob job where they switched out the coil assembly and put back on the original flywheel.. Can anybody enlighten me? Thank you.

330's never did have points. The Phelon electronic ignition is OEM. They've typically been known to be pretty reliable but do go bad occasionally. If it's starting and running, it's probably not the ignition module though. When they go bad, they usually just won't start at all.
