HI, I have looked for info ever where, the 290 & 340 & 8800 saw has the same type clutch. The service manual for the 290 & 340 saw reads place shoes and spring in spider and hook spring, on the 540 you would have to be superman! It looks like the spider is a two parts and can be pulled apart? Maybe some one here has done this? Thanks

With that type of clutch, try placing the clutch shoe on the spider then wrapping the spring around the shoes, that system uses a single spring correct?

Yes one large spring, with long spider legs. I don't think anyone could stretch that spring over the legs. I looked on youtube and no videos of this, if someone knows of a video? Thanks
