So! I got this homelite chainsaw for 15$ at a garage sale from an inventor who built airplanes. The haggling was pretty funny: I was thinking it looked like a good chainsaw and he was talking me down lol, from 25$ to 15$. I couldn't say no to that. I pickup up couple other cool items from his workshop that was being moved out of (they just didn't want to carry a heavy chainsaw with them when moving), like a custom tool-rack and a couple other tools that were similarly inexpensive. Anyway, to the point: it needs an ignition coil and a chain, so before I order these I thought it would be wise to seek advice on this forum. After some cleaning off the grime and some looking, I was able to find the model number and serial number etc. and put the pieces together: Terry Industries A Division of Textron Canada Ltd. Pointe Claire Que Type: 50047 Serial Number: 4172T120 Made in Canada 121091 Here are images of it, obviously it's seen some use. It still has good compression and I'm eager to get it going. So, does anyone have recommendations for an ignition coil and chain, and where would you get these? Thanks.

That looks very much like the XL-875 that was given to me by a friend. It also has a bad ignition coil. The coils listed by MSB above are pretty expensive for a saw that may have other problems, and the coil Leon has for sale doesn't have a spark plug wire attached. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. I'd be interested to hear if you put a new coil on and if you got it running.
