Hey guys, I got this saw for free with a lot of saws I just bought. I don’t know anything about it other then it’s a gear drive(at least I think it is). Can anyone tell me what it is and I plan on just sending it down the road so what’s it worth? Thanks for any help.

Based on the air filter cover & lack of vinyl on the wrap handle bar, it's a 707G or a 770G. I see the new style governor spring bracket on the carburetor, so assuming that is the original carb, I'm going with a 770G.

Copy. Thanks Leon I was just getting ready to email you and ask you. Are they worth anything? It’s not really my cup of tea and I don’t have parts for it or else I would hang onto it.

I think it has the less desirable starter on it and it doesn’t want to engage.

I agree its a 770g. That has the "overrunning bearing" type starter which can be finicky, but they get the job done. I've had a couple saws with them over the years. On mine, it sometimes helps to tilt the saw to the side (like you're felling a tree) when first pulling, it usually engages better.
Do you have the bar/chain for it? In my experience having a (preferably big) bar and chain makes the saws exponentially more valuable to a collector. With no B/C, and in non-running condition, I'd expect to pay around $100 for that in my neck of the woods.

Thank you for the info I appreciate it. No I don’t have a bar unfortunately. I wish I did though. The guy I bought some saws for tossed it in as a freebie when I was leaving. I’ll put it up locally and see if anyone is interested. thank you

I always thought one of those would make a good go kart engine with the gear reduction

I tried turning it on its side and working that starter, but it doesn’t want to engage. Lightly tapped on the starter cover with a hammer also, but she’s stubborn.

I agree its a 770g. That has the "overrunning bearing" type starter which can be finicky, but they get the job done. The IPL is showing a ball drive starter, like what I just dealt with on my 775G. Either way, a bit of lube should resolve the starter issues (unless it is a ball drive that's partly blown up). I agree with the $100 as it sits. If you could provide a buyer with more details, like has spark, fires on prime, decent compression, etc... you might get a bit more, but it comes down to how much your time is worth vs. sale price.
