Was using my Grandpa's Super xl after it had set for a long time in a emergency after a tree fell blocking our road. After pulling the plug, cleaning it and inspecting fuel tank and putting new fuel in and checking the chain shockingly it fired up after about 6 pulls. While bucking the tree cutting thru it like butter I heard clanging noise rattling around. Shut the saw down and inspected. Pulled the cover and it blew many many fins of the flywheel. Not sure why. Ignition blue cover was pretty dinged up. Pulled out broken fins and put case back. Pulled it over and it fired up, I then shut it down. I don't know how to add pictures to show the damage of the Ignition cover but what's a safe way to fix these dings or gouges in the blue Ignition cover? Ideas?

You could clean it up and lay some epoxy over the dings. If you can't see any windings (copper) since it's still running, I might not worry much about it. But yeah, epoxy will fix it up if that's your intention.
