I'm a little confused about something. XL Automatic with a plastic housing. The IPL calls for the four bolts that attach the pull start housing to the main engine housing part number 80704 10-32 x 5/8. When I search Ebay for that part number there are many listings but the bolts they all show are all fine thread which is a pretty common thread but of the six XL Automatics I have, all the bolts have course threads which are for joining a plastic cover to a plastic housing so I'm a little confused. The 10-32 bolts are too fine for this application. I was wanting to buy some new pull start cover bolts but what's out there to me are not right for a plastic cover and housing. The black ones are from one of the Ebay listings and it's obvious the threads are not the same.

The ones in your picture, on the left, are for metal to metal. Search for part number 70771 for plastic to plastic ones. If stripped out use part number 94566.You can go to the hardware store and match them. I think they are 10 x 3/4.

Yep, looks like you looked up starter cover screws for a Super XL Automatic, totally different animal.

Bobby, I have three different IPLs and all three show the same part number for the metal to metal screws. Is there an IPL that shows the 70771?

Look at IPL 17868. Some of these used part 82563. They are torx head screws. Same 10 X 3/4. What IPL are you using?

I have three IPLs I downloaded from Leons web site. 24923, 78587 are the part numbers on the cover of the IPLs. These are the IPLs Leon said should apply to the saw I have. I'm still a little confused as to which IPLs apply to the saws I have or how to determine that.

Those are the correct IPLs. They're combination IPLs for both magnesium and plastic housing saws. They screws for the mag housing saw, 80704, is listed first with the screw for plastic housing saw, 94565, just below. On these IPLs you have to watch for the X's in the columns to the right of the part numbers to be sure you're looking at the correct line for your saw.

Thanks to blythkd for posting the ones i was looking for. Most of these take the same screws. Just different in plastic / metal cases.

Thanks guys for your help. I stopped by Lowes and found some #10 x 3/4 sheetmetal screws. The only differance between the Homelite screws and the Lowes screws is the Homelite screws have a blunt tip whereas the Lowes screws have a pointed tip but thats easy enough to remedy.
