Hello to everyone out there in Homelite land. I just signed up today and had a few questions if you don't mind. I have 3 Homelite chainsaws: a 35, an XL12 and an XL. I am curious about their ages and also how to find the serial number on the XL (it is not obvious where it might be, but I had no trouble finding the ID plates on the others).
Model 35 UT 50222A Serial TH00289
Model XL12 Type 10490 Serial T7700966
The serial numbers may not be in a format you are used to, as these are made in Canada. The XL is made in the USA, but I don't know where the serial number might be.
Being new to the site, I will apologize in advance for any mistakes I might make. I read the instructions when starting out, but didn't really see any rules. I would assume that most people will behave properly (as I will) and not be nasty to one another. Is this also a forum for selling saws or parts? I did notice something about finding parts, both new and used, but am not sure how to get there. Thanks for putting up with me. Regards, Bill

If you go to the Home page and scroll down, you'll find pages to buy and sell anything Homelite, or others if you like.
There's Leon's parts store as well as other vendors. If Leon doesn't have it, you can post an inquiry and a few other members will typically check their stock to see if they can help you out.

The XL looks like a UT:10517-C , they were in production until 1989. Found one sold on eBay with Serial number: HK2480966 ... DOM; Tuesday - September 5th - 1989 www.ebay.com/itm/134627552161 If it has a Walbro carburetor there will be a date code near the low mixture screw.
