I pulled out my C-5 today that I haven't messed with in at least 3 yrs.I found that I had the wrong plug in it for one thing (don't know why).Another thing that I noticed was the chain was acting like it was seized.I ended up changing out the sprocket from a non-running C-9.That got the clutch drum moving freely again.I put the bar & chain on & it spins freely until I tighten the nuts down on the drivecase cover. This is driving me crazy. The bar plates are both on & I even tried swapping the drivecase cover from the C-9.The only other thing I can try is putting a different bar on to see if that's the culprit.Anyone got any ideas? The other thing I was going to do was change the spur sprocket to a rim drive, but it seems that those parts are pretty much obsolete.I can't even find a .404 spur drum, part # A57344.The Oregon rim drum is a 10616.I refuse to pay $50 for a clutch drum.

I found the problem. There was nothing wrong with the drivecase cover at all,it was the bar.The bar was an F014 imposter.I put a new Carlton Bushmaster on it with a chain off one of my C-91s & it doesn't bind at all.

I finally got the old beast fired up yesterday for the first time in yrs.For some reason it originally acted like it needed crank seals,it might've been due to being low on fuel.I filled the tank about 3/4 full & gave it 2 or 3 pulls & it was running, but wouldn't idle.I ended up turning the idle screw in about one full turn & it idles just fine.It revs up & comes back down to idle the way it should.
