Hello all,
I recently acquired a clean C72 from the original owner. He purchased it new in October 1983. The SN is 190710084. Not sure of the date of MFG ? A second question is what is the clutch / crankshaft left hand thread size / pitch, as the threads on both parts need to be cleaned up. 1/2", 7/16 ? Any help is greatly appreciated !
Thank you,
Tom

The IPL shows the flywheel nut to be 7/16-20 and the clutch side nut to be 3/8-24 , both standard SAE fine thread . There was no mention of either being left hand threads and the similar sized nuts on my SXL's are all right hand threads also . But the actual clutch is left hand threads . Charles

Charles,
The flywheel nut, and clutch drum nut are both right hand thread. I'm actually looking for the thread size for the crank shaft, and clutch spider where the clutch spider threads onto the crank shaft. They are left hand thread. I'm just not sure which size tap, and die that I need to purchase.
Thank you,
Tom

Wow, I'm embarrassed @ my senior moment. I just had cranks out of a 7 and 72. I ran a tap and die in and on everything to clean up the threads. Problem is I dont remember nor do I have an exposed crank to check. Maybe if I go stare at my T&D set a light may come on but.
