I recently bought a 360 "Professional" on E-Pay for a reasonable price($48). It needs some work but that's half the fun. In my search for an IPL I ran across one for a 360 Automatic but not the "Professional". Is there any difference between these models ?

I think the 360 Auto is a 360 Auto. Does it actually say 360 Professional on the saw. Most likely just a decal change on Homelite's part to add some marketing hype to the name

The saw says "professional" on the chain side. The pull start pully cover is missing in the pic so I cannot tell if it is an auto oiler but other pics do not show a manual oiler.

I checked my 360 IPL's (Rev. 1 & Rev. 2) they are both auto oilers. I've rebuilt about six 360's and they have all been auto oilers. The Rev. 1 IPL shows the "Professional" decal while the Rev.2 shows the "Automatic".
The early 360's had black coloring on the filter cover and the starter. They also had a different clutch/drivecase cover. Yours has the later covers. There are also a bunch of other differences after certain lot (lot #C-320 being the major one) numbers (diffenent cylinder, muffler, Cylinder shield, etc.)

Mark, as you have experience with 6 of these saws....any particular problems to watch out for or helpful hints ? ;D thanks, Mike

Make sure you keep track of all 25 connecting rod needle bearings ! One thing that has bitten me in the past is kinking the pulse line between the jug and the carb. Obviously make sure there are no cracks, etc. I usually put a heat resistant sleeve over the wire between the module (i.e., solid state coil) and the transformer (spark plug) receptacle. This wire sometimes gets burned on the cylinder. Actually I normally do this on all saws. Hope this helps. Mark (SkiPro)

If it's been sitting awhile it will probably need a carb intake boot. This is the most common problem with these saws. These are good saws and well worth the trouble to get going again.

Blackoak, Although I don't have the saw yet..I am sure you are correct. My 330(about the same age) required a boot replacement a couple of months ago. Thanks.

Look closer mike, I dont think it has a chainbrake, judging by the pic. The ones that did had a different clutch cover and were designated as an "SL" if I recall...

This is what the drivecase cover for a 360 with a chain brake looks like: Mark (SkiPro)
