I don't know about anyone else, but that format won't open on my machine...I am unable to see these pics. But in general if the reed valve gap is no more than 3/64", it will be okay.

The pics are to low of a resolution to tell anything.

Yeah I understand they suck but it’s the best I could do,there is a gap, I disassembled my classic 150 parts saw with a Zama carb. It was much tighter than this one but it’s a different bolt up set up as ,I’m sure you know .I’m going to flip the HDC reed valve .thanks.A carb. rebuild kit from Walbro is coming and a couple of other parts and I hope this will fire up,learning a lot about 2 cycles!if I had to estimate I’d probably be way off,I’ll gap it!

I just corrected, the last post-the saw for parts is a Classic 180 not a Classic 150 as I originally stated( memory!) I was wondering why it did not match any 150 pics ,the classic might be rebuilt next it’s not bad considering I dug it out of mud down by the river and if I don’t use any more parts from it,I had considered using the metering spring for the XL but I’ll just order one also the oil system for the 180 is “ pulsed” off the carb. Which is a Zama -to much mixing up parts on that deal! The more I took it apart the more I thought the engine isn’t bad the bore is good it’s just really dirty.I just gotta get a metering spring for the XL,,A base gasket and rebuild the carb oh and flip the reed valve. It might take awhile..it’s fishing season!

On my converter it is the only one that got the image small enough to use at all on this site iAnyhow I did successfully flip my reed and it is less but there is a gap still of about .010 so less and way under the 3/64 “ suggested as operable, I did accomplish something!not sure if it was worth the risk(I could have screwed it up!)because instead of the original screws I retapped the holes to metric M3’s and there was a minor risk that plastic could have cracked while threading it , mine appears to be Bakelite -hard but can be brittle , but it did work and I used red locktiteto keep it together , then read not on plastic! But Bakelite is tough to bother that way it is pretty impervious to chemicals . Next time I would not worry about the small gap I had oh well I learned things and all is well.now the XL is going back together.

Just thought to leave the pic in anyone’s interested I tapped the holes for M3 screws the holes didn’t need to be drilled out, just tapped I used red locktite ,I did not want it disassembling while running!
