What years did homelite XL s go electronic, mine is 1977, just wondering -mine has spark, but won’t start,screws-throttle and low speed, there is no high speed adj.small hole or plug there. fresh fuel, really clean for its age ,piston also real clean ,no scoring issues ,oil lines are soft but workable til I replace them,I believe it’s a diaphagm type.I did drop fuel direct in the carb but so far has not fired off,but as I said it has spark.oh plenty compression also.where do the three oil lines go? One goes in the tank, the other runs from the crank case to the bar, but one of mine runs from the dia phraghm back straight out to over the flywheel and is cut off there in mid air D333B949-1094-4ED2-8DF5-68B66B745951.ico (120.92 KB) D3B64AE2-2538-40D0-8F1C-88205868B655.ico (119.63 KB) I found out that the plastic case is cracked across the front after I posted earlier,I have extra case but it is for a classic 180 so I don’t want to do it even if it can ,I don’t believe it’s a real problem but we’ll see.

I “sewed” the XL case up with steel guitar string then puttied it over with marineweld epoxy and imbedded fiber glas tape in that ,I believe the engine is the structural strength so hopefully it won’t be a problem.the “red “is wearing of the plastic though,it’s not red plastic ,it’s painted ,I never saw one like that. The oil lines are really screwed up on this ,one goes in-the tank, and the other tank line just is open over the flywheel, where it’s supposed to enter the tank is filled by a screw. Is there normally a molded nipple or fitting in that spot,is it broken or missing ?The lines are really soft so I bought some 1;8” line for fuel and oil lines, but I have to know what’s up there first ,this is a pretty clean saw mostly,I don’t know if somebody that knew 0 worked on it and then gave up or what. Now I have three good saws and three that I’m working on plus some weed wackers that I’ll need soon!Oh ,and the big mower needs its annual get ready to mow maintenance.I don’t really need all the saws but I want to put them away working.
