So I've had this saw for a while but have never had any luck finding a chain and bar combo that will work. I bought the OEM chain length and that was way too short. The last one I bought CSC H72 and it is just barely too short. It seems like that's the largest chain I can find for an .050 chain. The bar is an 18" bar so I just can't seem to figure out why I can't find a chain that fits. I thought this might be the place to get some answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Good to know, thank you. I can get the 72 DL on the saw but I can't get the bar pulled out enough to engage the tensioner. The whole thing has me confused.

So it has .325 pitch chain? I'm no expert on the 240/245 saws but seems like the 18" 240 was .375 pitch and 18" 245 was .325 pitch when new. Not sure just where the 240 Classic falls though. But 18" .325 pitch chain should be 73 links. I'm guessing that's what you've got?

I would put money on you being much more of and expert than I am for sure. Good to know about the pitch I will check that when I get home. 73DL does seems like it would be perfect. I appreciate the reply!

The pitch of the chain must match the sprocket that’s on the saw, verify what you have now before buying a chain. Check to see what pitch the bar is for also.

I'm fairly sure .325 is the right pitch. When I got the 72DL chain on there the teeth fit nicely in the drive sprocket. I don't disagree that knowing before ordering is the correct move. Thank you.

It seemed to mesh well at the tip of the bar but I'm going to take another look to be sure. thanks again!

Just thought I'd let you all know that an Oregon H73 chain fit like a glove. Appreciate all the advice. Now that it's all good now I'm not sure if I want to sell it. Thanks again
