My dad and I are in the process of restoring a saw used by my grandad on an Alaska mill back in the 70's and 80's. The jug is about toast, scored pretty bad. One reed valve was missing upon tear down so I'm certain that was the culprit to the death. Anyhow, dad has found some parts, decal kits and such. But when i look for replacement parts for what we think is a (8.5hp?) Super (XL?), the bore diameter is no where close to this saw. The piston measures 2.245" which is a little over 57mm. I can include some pictures if they're helpful. I can't find an ID badge or anything on this saw to identify it as the original graphic is warn off of the starter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to House of Homelite!
Pictures will certainly help with identification. A pic is worth a thousand words they say.
Without sampling the 'grease flavor' .. I'll guess maybe a SUPER-2100.

Saw if one of the 2100’s, or a 2000.

Thank you! It appears as tho we are missing the muffler cover, what are the chances of finding another? I haven't been able to locate anything online. I have a machinist willing to work on the jug but don't know what specs to give because haven't been able to find an over size piston, rings, or replacement jug if that's what it comes down to. Is there anyone who manufactures new parts or some place we can get ready to run parts from? We really appreciate the help. Thanks again.

Muffler covers pop up from time to time on ebay, There are no oversized pistons, parts are hard to find for this model and expensive.

I didn't see your muffler in the pictures. I might have a muffler cap, just need to know which muffler you have.

Definitely a 2100. There was the original 2100 with a Dykes ring, 2100S, where S was for "Standard" that had conventional twin rings, and at least a couple variations of Super 2100 with thin rings. Some supers had 3/4" clutch shoes, some had 7/8". The 7/8" had a different crankshaft and a distinguishable clutch cover. Very nice saws! I have a machinist willing to work on the jug but don't know what specs to give because haven't been able to find an over size piston, rings, or replacement jug if that's what it comes down to. Is there anyone who manufactures new parts or some place we can get ready to run parts from? The cylinders are aluminum and plated and you can't just bore it out, not without replating. There's companies that do replating, but they aren't cheap. I've never seen any aftermarket piston/cylinders for 2100s. Cylinders and pistons used to pop up on ebay, but honestly haven't seen any in a few years now. Patience is key. I waited years before finding a replacement piston for a 750. Parts are out there and I'm sure there are members here that may have some. The question is if anyone is willing to sell them. Dan

He has saws / trimmers for sale. His business listing is. Marroquins Atv, Spring Run Pa. Never bought from or know if he would ship or not. Has listings for Homelite saws at $25.00 each, parts or repair saws. Pictures show, what looks to be, some 330 / 360 & others. Search the internet for his name. Could be worth checking out.
