I've come across several smaller saws, such as the XL,XL2,Super2,etc.that were missing the metal tube on the oil line. Those little metal tubes are hard to come by & I can't see paying $4 for just one + shipping from "Lil Red Barn. Buford Parrish sent me a few Poulan fuel/oil line connectors to try out & they work just fine. Here's a pic of what they look like.

The one potential downside is the lack of bleeder hole...the cintered tube allowed tank pressure to bleed back into the crankcase when the saw was off to help avoid leakage. You may have to crack the oil cap when the saw isn't running, but definitely an very economical solution!

Homelite used something similar on their late model small saws and it did have a bleeder hole

A-07508 is called a vent fitting, very similar to the one in the picture above except it is a tee with a nipple sticking off to one side with an orifice in it I believe.
Maybe a guy could just drill a tiny hole in the side of the straight fitting shown above? Or just loosen the oil cap when you shut it off like we do on the pressurized tank saws (when we remember, LOL).
