I have a plastic cover XL ut# 10618, The carburetor needs a cleanup and a gasket set. Looks like there are two types. What is the correct way to remove the housing to remove the carb? thanks

Remove the spark plug, muffler, bar & chain and starter housing.
Unhook the kill wire from the switch.
Remove 2 motor mount screws on top of the engine housing, near the kill switch.
Remove 2 motor mount screws on the bottom of the engine housing.
Slide the engine out of the housing. Carb linkage unhooks a bit easier if you depress the throttle trigger as you're removing the engine from the housing. Don't bend the linkage, there's no need. It'll reinstall in reverse order without bending as well. Notice one end has a tighter bend than the other end. The tighter bend installs in the carb.
Should have access to the carb now as well as everything else.

Couple questions. The gas tank has a small hole on the top, about half inch dia. Should it be there as a vent or did someone decide it needed one? Second question, according to Ut-10618 this saw should have a Zama or Walbro on it. It has a Tillotson HK-27B carb. Carb kits are available for it. Did homelite use carbs other than what is listed in the parts manual?

Sorry but I jumped the gun about the gas tank! I checked the parts manual and discovered it does have a vent hose. mine is missing and I sure did think someone just drilled a hole. Where does the hose attach and how long is it? thanks
