The threads in the flywheel for the starter pawl studs are 12-24.

Hi Leon,
I wanted to attach this picture yesterday but ran out of battery on phone to upload. Its the studs circled in red that I normally use to secure a puller to remove flywheel.
I'm not sure I understand that those can be removed from flywheel, never tried to remove them?
Thanks, MC

They'll unscrew. Just put a 7/16 on them, hold the flywheel and go.

10-32 is the thread size for the small studs that protrude up from the starter pawl shoulder bolts.
The Homelite flywheel puller/holder would use those studs as attachment points. Some flywheels are very difficult to remove. I use a steering wheel puller with XL-AO starter housing bolts threaded into the flywheel.

Thank you for the info! I did not know that they could be removed. I made myself a simple puller after being fed up of tapping and prying them out.
