I'm not telling anyone they screwed up an Ebay listing again. I tried one time on a carb where the picture didn't match the description and got nothing but grief from the seller.

I always have to bite my lip/grit my teeth at postings like that. Just yesterday there was a Facebook marketplace ad in my area for a "rare" early XL-12 built in 1963. I looked at the pictures and serial number and it's a very common 67/68 model. I want to tell the guy he's not going to get $325 for a common saw but I think I'll just let it go...

In the past I've tried to help sellers out when they listed something incorrectly. Most are grateful.......but some are just idiots. There so much of it going on......I guess everyone hits garage and estate sales and buys up things like chainsaws just to resell......but have no idea what they're doing. If I think it's an honest mistake I'll usually send them a note....but if not I won't. And don't ask how I know.........I don't. You just get used to how people describe things and you can tell if they're playing dumb to make a sale, or really don't know. This guy....who knows. Homelite did rebadge saws for JD, so maybe this guy saw one while searching for a similar saw to figure out the price....or maybe he has no clue. I don't think he's being dishonest as the JD crowd buys everything that's green and marked JD.......so he's not helping himself by saying it's a Homey. But who knows? Gotta love eBay!!

No, I don't "Gotta Love" FeeBay. Too many fees. Insertion fees, final value fees, fees on shipping, payment fees, withdrawal fees and boy do you not want to be late with any of them or more fees! I do appreciate someone letting me know if I make a listing mistake, though. I wonder, is there a market for novelty saws? You know, a good Homelite painted with Tesla markings...
Ooo, maybe a nice Blue saw with Twitter markings. Seems an artist could have some fun with the common saws!

Hmmm....don't think there's any such market. Once the boomers are gone, and they're dropping like flies now, hobbies involving mechanical things will be but a fond memory. Today's youth are growing up in a disposable, throw-away world where anything that moves, cuts or makes noise will be electric powered. The things we grew up with that burn fossil fuels, make noise and smoke are considered dinosaurs. Today's youth don't even own tools or know the crossed shaped head on a screw is called a Phillips Head. They have no interest in any of the stuff your grandfather, father and you were or are interested in. If it doesn't have an 'app'.....you've lost their interest. Things like muscle cars, trains, chainsaws, tractors, old engines, etc........will become worthless almost overnight.....and headed toward the recycle bins.
So putting a Tesla emblem on a carbon emitting inefficient dinosaur would be sacrilege, not something considered cool. Check out the car mags where they put a small block in a Tesla and you'll see all the hate it generates. We're entering a strange new world. We should enjoy it while we can, as it'll never be like it was for us again.
But of course.......I could be wrong.
