I was trying to get the fuel line out of the 240 today & things didn't go as planned.Normally I take a stiff wire with a hook on it & styick it in the tank & grab onto the fuerl/oil line & fish it out of the opening,easy-peasy.Today I was able to grasp onto the line, but it wouldn't fish out easily at all.The result is a pinched fuel line.I took a parts 240 apart & in orfder to replace the fuel line one must completely disassemble the saw to get to the fuel tank.Remove clutch, muffler, oil pump, front carb assembly,is there an easier way that I'm not aware of?

Can't you just remover pull starter side to access fuel tank?

You can look at the fuel tank, but the fuel line goes in on the backside. In order to pull the tank out,one must pull the engine from the case just like a little XL or Super 2.

Yeah they're actually pretty easy to work on since the engine pulls out of the case just like a S2 or XL. It doesn't take long to pull out then you have great access to everything.

I'd rather work on an XL or Super 2 any day of the week as opposed to a 240.At least with the XL & Super 2 ya don't have to pull the clutch & muffler to take the engine out of the case.Easy to work on?I don't think so.I'll have to be real bored & run out of saws to work on in order for me to even THINK about working on the 240.I swear the engineers who designed this model were tripping on LSD when they designed it.

Yeah I never was a 240/245 guy but with all the right tools ready at hand and power tools too you can buzz one right apart. I used to use nothing but nut drivers and a 1/4" ratchet. Now with a cordless driver any of them can be pulled out of the case in 5 minutes.
I prefer XL's and S2's as well but once you get any of them out of the case, everything is easy peasy to work on.

I agree, once ya get them out of the case. It's getting them out of the case that's the PITA.I'd like to see a video of you taking one apart (240) in 5 min.Thank goodness I practiced on a parts saw first,I ended up breaking the clutch. The shoes, springs,& spider are still good though.I've got 2 of these little biotches to work on.

I smell a challenge! Unfortunately I don't have a 240. How about I put an intake boot in a 360 in 10 minutes?

A 360 isn't the same as a 240.You don't have to pull the clutch or muffler (?) on a 360 to replace the boot.

You're absolutely right. All you have to do is split the saw:)
