that puppy looks a lot like a 290 I have.
According to Acres site, the 290 was made by echo.

Hello...Mike and Bill........ You are both right... This saw is a copy made by Solo Kleinmotoren GMBH, STUTTGART, Germany for exportation and re-sale in north America. It is not seen very often as the model Homelite 47 in Canada. Sold in the U.S.A. as the Homelite 290 with a 3/8 inch pitch design. Sold in Germany as the Solo 647 with a .325 inch design. Sold in Canada as the Homelite 47 with a .325 inch design. At least now i know what i have Alain,

Alain you made quick work of the research.
Although the 290 is new to me I have filled a couple of IH scout with wood,I like the saw, it is very light and easy to start, and very quiet. My daughter (15 yrs old) made her first cuts of wood with this 290 and now calls it Hers.
Nice find enjoy.

Hello Alain,
I am glad to see you were able to get the origin nailed down. I have never seen one badged that way. It is a great find. That proves that there are some great finds even in the modern Homelite branded saws. Although I do not have a dedicated 47 manual (never seen one) I do have the 290/340 so if you ever need one let me know.
