I got another XL in the mail today. The seller said the recoil didn't work.Ther reason why it didn't work is because the rewind spring is missing.I looked at the IPL & it gives 2 different rewind springs - part # 69217,or part # A95233(A).the latter says it's used after lot # 0003.The UT # of the saw is 10515B & serial # is 7E2720139.Thanks for any help. Here's a pic of the pulley.

If my memory is correct, it depends if you saw is plastic or magnesium {metal}. I think the 69217 is used on the magnesium saw. Other number is used on plastic saw. Look at your IPL at top, I think it will show what spring is used on what saw. Difference is hook on end of spring, I think.

You are correct Bobby. My saw is plastic housing,so it'll need the A95233A.I don't know how I missed that, inexperience I guess.

No, I think most of us has missed things that we should have seen. Those XL / XL2 are great trim saws. Easy to work on. Have done many of them over the years.

Yes,they are fairly easy to work on once ya get the hang ofg it.I think I've done about 7 or 8 so far & have a few more to go (including Super2s).At first I despised them just because I had to pull the engine from the case, but like I said, once ya gety the hang of it they're not bad at all. There's one thing about them that drives me crazy though,& that's the oil & fuel tanks flopping around once out of the case,Lol.

Yea, over the last 40+ years or so, I have done quite a few. If I could give you a suggestion, the screws that hold the engine in can or will come loose. I've been using lock tight on them. Seemed to solve problem of them working loose.
