Decided to give a gear drive a whirl and a 4-20 is on the way. Would someone have an IPL and/or owners manual to share ?
Does anyone know what weight oil goes in the gearbox ? Given the age...probably straight 30 weight non detergent ?

Now a gear drive Homelite Service Manual Second Edition says "Homelite SAE 90" except that may be hard to find Well, since 85W-90 wasn't out when the manual was printed, I think that would be a good choice. Outboard motor hypoid gear oil should also work.

I really enjoyed working on the ZIP and find myself leaning toward the uprights. I think a gear drive will be interesting. Hope it is not a mechanical nightmare.

90W is common but to be honest it makes no real difference. Some used bar oil.

Now for the 4-20 IPL I have one but I am sure someone else will be faster on the scanner. Bill

I have all of them but it seems there is always someone that is faster to get them posted. I am slow to get things done.
