Problem: chainsaw fires on the 4th pull on choke, but then seems to dump the entire tank into the cylinder and won’t start. Fuel will just pour out of the exhaust.
Is the intake reed valve supposed be flush against the plastic? Mine sticks out about a millimeter, but I’m not sure if it’s supposed to. Bought a new intake reed valve and the spacing is the same as the one I already have.
What I’ve done: I rebuilt the carb with a good kit, triple checked that I did it right by looking at Leon’s videos and diagrams. Pressure tested it, and it holds pressure perfectly. New hose/filter in the tank, new oiler hoses, new duck bill valves, new oiler diaphragm, new NOS gaskets for absolutely everything. It has god compression and good spark. The needle arm is set flush with the edge of the carb. I’ve more or less rebuilt the entire saw, scoured every video there is for info, and spent $300 on parts and testers for this saw. What am I missing?

Reed should be flush. What kind of ignition system? So it shouldn’t be raised a bit like the one in this picture? imgur.com/a/LfK6WO5Not sure on the ignition system, this is what’s on it imgur.com/a/5NGxPJf

Checked it, looks fine to me even though I’m not sure what to look for. No real wear to be seen. Pic here imgur.com/a/5MXsJ4mI ended up taking the reed valve off and persuaded it to be flat. That didn’t fix my problem at all, so I decided to see if maybe it wasn’t sparking under compression. Made a spark tester, and it sparks fine. My next idea is to put that z circuit in the carb and see what happens. I initially just replaced the circuit gasket with whatever came out of it. Figured it was the right one, but never considered that maybe someone put the wrong one in there to begin with. Will update with results later.

Did you use OEM carb kit? The ones from china have the nub too high. Mostly on smaller carbs, but I have found them in other china kits, over the years. Does it have the Walbro carb? Take a look at Dealer Service Memo 763CS, might help you out.
