I picked up a 20MCS at an estate sale the other day and noticed it had a Homelite paper tag on it. I can't remember ever seeing a tag like it and it sparked my curiosity. Of course, "not remembering" seems to be a common theme for my mind lately. The saw has had some work done to it in the past so, I am assuming it's a service tag...? What gets me is that if a local shop did the work, how would they have a branded Homelite service tag? Anyone know? Here it is....
It has what looks like a 26LCS cylinder on it. But what really got me what the cleanliness of the inside of the gas and oil tanks. The pictures of the tanks don't do it justice. I had to pause for a minute and thoughts started running through my head...what...what do you have here?!? LOL Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi bit,
I just picked up my first 20MCS the other day (for waaaay too much money I might add), but I had a hole in my collection that was really bugging me. I couldn't find the IPL on Leon's site for it, so I downloaded it from an online source.......as I wanted to see what parts were the same as on the 26LCS. To my amazement there are almost no common parts between Homelite's first two saws!! I was pretty amazed (and bummed because I have a pile of 26LCS's laying around). The 20 is sure one odd beast!!

W30bob:
Yeah, I have been looking one for my collection for a while. I could never find one around here....then I found 2 in last couple months and bought both of them. Unbelievable. Feast or famine I guess. Neither seller knew what they had. Can't wait to start going through them!
Congrats on your find!

I've hung hundreds of those tags on saws but they were white, not orange. I'm guessing the orange ones go back many years. The white ones I dealt with date back to at least the early 80's.
The stub that was meant to tear off and give to the owner when they dropped off their saw at the shop, made a perfect coil air gap tool. And you could cut off a short length of the wire and double it over into a "cotter pin" to use as a choke pull retainer on XL-12/SXL/SEZ type saws that used that small brass cotter pin. Also, the wire was small enough to poke in the the top of a carb to pop a stuck fuel inlet needle loose.
I wish I had another case of those tags!

Some owners didn't live near to a service facility and Homelite offered a send-it-in service. I have seen a Homelite saw that had a stick on decal that stated it was serviced by Homelite Service. Was pretty neat, but I can't track down where I saw it.
