I have a Homelite xl 2 with a broken pull cord. Anyone know the approxiate length of the pull cord? The one that is on it is very short.
Thanks...

Talk about timing! I just finished putting a new rope on a little XL minutes ago. The XL, XL-2 and Super 2 all have the same starter stuff on them.
There seems to be 2 different types of pulleys on these things. The one I usually end up messing with is this very shallow thing and unless you use very small rope, you can't get it to wind up more than a foot or so. I got the smallest rope they had at the local hardware store, and am not sure of the size, but its probably either 3 or 3.5mm.
Anyway, using this rope,, I got about 30" on it. I tied the end on the pulley, installed it, and wound rope to get as much as I could on it. Cut it to length after I saw how much it would take o the pulley before binding. I don't know if there's a text book length for these, but again, the key is use smaller rope than what you'd use on a larger saw.
