Poulan made saws for craftsman in the 1970's. Check the part number on saw, if its still there. Should start with something like 5300xxxxxxxxx. Hope this an help you out.

Check out a Poulan S25CVA. If that's not it, it's pretty close. Poulan made a ton of different models of those little saws back in the day. I think they all pretty much spun off the model 25.

Check out a Poulan S25CVA. If that's not it, it's pretty close. Poulan made a ton of different models of those little saws back in the day. I think they all pretty much spun off the model 25. Yep, you can search around and you might see a Poulan S25 on flea bay. (usually a bright green color) The later model S25 had electronic ign. Common issues with the old one's is the gas cap duckbill leaks gas (can be carefully replaced with a homelite duckbill) bad gas line, you can find you tube info about replacing with tygon and two different types of fuel line routing. Noticed that the choke is full on on that one and they usually always require a full choke until you hear a pop, then 1/2 choke to start with throttle trigger held wide open. Some of the Craftsman were not of the same quality as the Green S25CVA's. The S25CVA's were made to compete with the Homelite EZ's back when Poulan made in the 70's a good top handle model chainsaw. I've got two of the good industrial version green ones with a IPL that use often for trimming limbs after the firewood tree is down and I think I have a red one similar to the picture with the craftsman name that use every once in awhile as a off road trail saw for use from jeep or ATV. Lots of parts on flea bay for the S25's. (watch out for the word vintage, it jacks up the price) Not worth much not running and even less if not running. What is the asking price of the little feller and do you do your own chainsaw repairs?

Thanks everyone! They are asking $25.00 CDN. I think I have too many saws already! That's a great deal, especially if it's in decent shape. The Poulan S25s were regarded as one of the best climbing/limbing saws of the day, and I agree. If possible, make sure the auto oiler works because the diaphragms are getting almost impossible to find. If all is in good shape, that's a steal! Dan

I agree. They were a little short on styling but always seemed like pretty good little saws, for what they were. Saying Craftsman on the side just makes it a little more unique.

Yep, $25 is a good buy. Even as a parts saw the parts really sell good on flea bay.
Some have both auto and manual oilers, roller tip bar, really good carb, think maybe tillotson carb and reliable if just little bit of TLC. Really good light weight trim saws and will fool you pulling a 16 inch bar.
