Thinking.... I have a 540 handle that's not bad, but then again its not new. Problem is I don't have a cylinder and piston for a 540! debating whether to try to start a 540 project or not.

Dan, I have a brand new P/C for an 8800/mp88. I know that they are similar, not sure if the transfers are the same. CSW

Thanks CSW. I'm fixed for 8800 parts. The muffler attachment is different between the 540 and the 8800, so its not just a bolt-on swap. I figure if I'm gonna build a 540, then it'd better be a 540. Problem is until I find a correct piston/cylinder, I ain't going very far.

So are you going to pass on Bill's 540 handle? Are they the same as the 8800? That has been my stumbling block on that project, the MP88 handle ass. has a window cut through the oil tank to the fuel tank. CSW

Please CSW..... Go for it! Really the handle on my 540 is in pretty good shape if I ever decide to get started fixing it up.
They are different, and I'm not 100% sure if a 540 tank will work on an 8800. Big noticable difference is the 540 tank is plastic and the 8800 tank is magnesium. That alone is no problem, but the parts around the boot for the intake are a bit different. I'll try to take some pics later today so you can compare the two.

Ok, Here's some pics comparing a 8800 tank with a 540 one. 8800 on the left, 540 on the right. It looks like the cutout for the intake boot stuff may work between the two. There's a few little diffs such as the ignition kill switch mounting method. Another kinda big diff is the gas and oil caps. The 540 has an O-ring around the outside and the 8800 has a gasket on the caps base. Anyway, there ya go CSW. You can decide if you think it'll work or not. I think it can be made to work, but a few places may require some improvisation. Dan
