UT is in your list 50108, I know early ones show points in the ipls, but haven't seen this module, gonna tear into it, maybe it's been frankensawed, have only personally seen this module on a super vi200

Unfortunately the S clutch on this one is broken, too bad the sprocket looks brand new, might have to change it to a 3"

I have a 76 with that ignition system.
I don't think those red Homelite chips were any better than the Prestolite modules.

It's a points ignition with an S-Clutch. The air filter cover is red, yours is probably a Super XL-130 part. My Super VI-200 from the List has the Red Ignition Module and I've also seen them on Super XL-130's . What is the SN (Date of Manufacture) of your XL-76 ? Fossil: Please post a picture or info from the ID tag. Thanks

This Wil be the parts saw to fix this 76, and to fix another 76 while I'm at it I'd be fixing up the donor saw. That's a VI200. It should have the Terry box muffler on it.

That saw is a frankensaw was a vi200 at some point.. But wrong muffler, fuel tank from different saw, was hit by an axy so has a xl-76 recoil starter and prestolite electronic ignition, and cylinder and piston are from a xl-101, so only 54cc..i prefer to keep saws as original as possible so this one lost since it has parts from 4 different saws.. Lol and have 2 complete vi200 that are original or at least model correct

I don't have time at present to start pulling starter covers off to see which saw it is but it does show up on IPL 79263 dated 8/83

The same red ignition module is also shown in the VI-130 IPL:79264 8-83, same diagram as the XL-76 IPL.
I haven't seen any VI-130's earlier than 1981 models.
1979 was the transition year into the blue Prestolite Module on Super XL-130's.
Perhaps '79 XL-76's UT:50108-50139 had the red ignition module attached to the coil.
Pop the flywheel off when you get a chance Kevin... to see what's under there.

Kool find... haven't seen an XL-76 with that ignition before. It looks like it was used to convert points to electronic as an option I received this from Canada in a parts lot. Nice! I've never seen one of those kits NOS before, so it's cool to see the Homelite documentation!
