Hello
I recently acquired a bar that has GW-24503 written on it in marker but the number stamped at the end reads 05724501. Can anyone tell me the gauge of this bar and how many drivelinks I would need to run a 3/8 pitch on it?
Thanks

I don't recognize the 503 part of the part number. GW-24003 would be .050 gauge 24". 24" on a modern saw would take 81 links of 3/8 chain. What model saw are you planning to run it on?
If you want to check the gauge, you can try to insert a 1/16" drill bit in the groove. If it's an older bar with .063 gauge, the bit should go. If not, then it's .050 gauge.

GW-24503 GW= gas welded- solid / 24= 24inch cutting length / 50= .050 gauge -1/2 inch /3= mount type. should fit 150ao / mini /xl123 /sez. undee70ss posted great information on bar information in Dec 5 2017 post. When he sees this post, may-be he will re-post it for you. Or, link to it. You could do a search for the posting also.

I'll buy the 50 in the part number being .050 gauge but not sure about the final 3 meaning it fits a SEZ. 24" bar on 150, SEZ, etc?
Is that a really old bar numbering system? Just trying to understand:)

A few guys would get a hold of these bigger bars and because they'll fit on their Super EZ, they'd run them. I worked with a guy that was running a 24"...he couldn't understand why the clutch was blown and his engine burned up!

It is soley going to be for a shelf piece, I just haven't decided which saw to put it on. Any suggestions? Would it work on a 700 series if it was just shelf piece?

This was evidently prior to 150's and SEZ's anyway. Same bar would fit a 350 as well, which could kinda handle a 24". Thanks Clasec for lining me out! I thought I was old but this stuff is even a little before my time, ahem.....

If that bar will go on the studs and adjuster pin, no reason you can't use it. I'm thinking the 700 has 5/16" bar studs just not sure which adjuster pin it has.

You could run a 36" bar with G5 mount on a SEZ but that wouldn't make it a good idea!
