Original Owner of Older Super 2. I have for years replaced internal thread Oil Cap, gobs of teflon tape, o-rings, etc. to maintain tight seal on tank. Saw stopped oiling and I purchased a replacement old stock oil tank to resolve my sealing issues. My original tank has the metal connector(69659-1), but no duckbill valve(?maybe the problem). This replacement tank has a plastic tee fitting(A-07508) with duckbill valve(69451) and red plastic tube(?) inserted inside other branch of the tee. I still have no oil output with this replacement tank. I had read to make sure the duckbill was not touching side, which it maybe in this tank and that is when I discovered the plastic tee difference.
I plan to extend the pressure input line to see if the diaphragm pump will force bubbles out under water. If that works I will probably use the original metal connector and duckbill in tank.
I would like to know how the tee fitting functions. I would also appreciate any advice on my plans and other advice on resolving this no bar oil issue.
Thanks to everyone for reading this post and for any advice that is shared. I love my little Super 2 and this forum is absolutely wonderful. I have learned so much about my Homelite from this forum.

Does your saw have the oil pump? it would be located on right side of saw, above where bar bolts on. Also your UT# on saw. Some of these had oil pumps while others did not. The UT # would help us.

The saw does have the oil Pump. The saw was before UT#s were labeled on saws. I believe the saw may have been manufactured in 1974 by having the serial #45533743. Leon replied earlier on a post asking about identification with parts list 24983 Rev 1. This parts list appears to accurate. I just checked the output of the oil pump by putting the discharge hose under water and it produced bubbles event at idle. Of course it may not function the same discharging against tank pressure.

I have now applied pressure to oil tank with a squeeze bulb and get oil flow out of tank. It seems I may have isolated the problem? I can not get air to flow from engine block Oil inlet port to Oil outlet port that feeds oil to bar. I have no ideal why the oil from the tank passes through this part of the block. I would love for someone to share knowledge of what this is for and how it operates

If you go to the home page. Go down till you see chainsaw models, click on the xl,xl-2, and super 2 chainsaws. When it opens you should see a link to service manuals for these models. It was posted by member undee70ss. It has section on the oiling systems & troubleshooting help.

Already got a copy off Leon's Site. It does not cover any detail or the issue of no flow thru the crank case ports. I also checked in the super 2 section of the Homelite Shop Service Manual Fourth Edition. Neither of these reference the oil routing into the engine block and exiting the block to the bar oil inlet port. My question is why there appears to be restriction through this passage.

I am a fool, I had assumed that the oil pump was just a controlled volume air pump to pressurize the oil tank. I now looked closer at the figure in the shop service manual. I see how the pressure to tank is actually just a pass through of crankcase pulse under the diaphragm of the oil pump plunger and that the plunger rod is a piston of an oil pump. I could make the excuse it is not as easy to see details in small figures as I get older, but have to admit that I made a stupid assumption on how the oil system worked. I plan to put saw back together and hope that it now feeds oil as I understand parts for the pump are now a rare or expensive find. Hoping the problem is not in the pump section.

The Homelite Service Guide for XL, XL-2, and Super 2 chain saws has a good trouble shooting section on the oiling system. I have a XL that would not oil after cleaning the tank and replacing oil line...problem was the thick summer blend of Husky brand bar oil was simply to thick to be metered out by the diaphragm oil pump system...I should have downloaded and read the service guide as it lists oil that is too thick causing no oil or low oil to the bar/chain. Here is the link: www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/uploads/3/9/7/9/39792537/homelite_service_guide_xl_xl2_super_2.pdf
