I was using my 330 yesterday to clean up some storm damage. The saw just died in the middle of a cut ...no spark. I pulled the muffler and found the switch wire was so short that engine vibration had rubbed the insulation off and grounded the saw. I cut the wire and soldered in another 2 inches to get the wire away from the cylinder. Covered both splices with heat shrink wrap. My brother has a 330 that developed the same problem. Not sure if this is common to these saws but it's a pretty cheap/easy fix.

Mike, I have a 330 that has an intermintant spark problem, I have never looked into it . I just set it aside. I'm gonna have a look...well, when I get the oil pump diaphram that it needs. CSW

CSW CSW...my brothers spark problem was intermittent as well. BTW....I put a oil pump diaphram in my 330 for nothing. The vacumn line under the pump was kinked and shut off the vacumn to the pump.
