Hello Thomas, With a 9 character SN, first character is assembly line and the second character is the year code. 0 is for 1980.

Dan Hi Dan, suggest creating a new thread with your "Homelite Serial Number Date of Manufacture" Java program. It then can be pinned and more easily found in the future for those that wish to use it. I still manually look up each Serial Number using epochconverter. To validate the number, especially when there isn't a pic of the ID tag, I always include the specific day of the week. In this case 702641073 decodes to: Saturday ? , September 20th, 1980 ...... a possible error in the number.

Hi Dan, suggest creating a new thread with your "Homelite Serial Number Date of Manufacture" Java program. It then can be pinned and more easily found in the future for those that wish to use it. I would, but honestly there just hasn't been much enthusiasm with it. I had hopes several people would hammer it since I'm sure there's bugs, but there's been very little feedback, so it's became a "not even on the stove" let alone a back burner project. When there's a post and someone asks about DOM, I usually try it just to see if it'll work in the case, but that's about it. If there's any interest, you have a great suggestion since it's buried within one of the other DOM related threads. Dan

How about UT 105214, SN 783340371? Got this for ten bucks at a yard sale, and just decided to try to get it running!

How about UT 105214, SN 783340371? Got this for ten bucks at a yard sale, and just decided to try to get it running! Built on production line 7, on the year 1978, on the 334 day of the year, and the 371st saw built that day.

Looks to be 1980 built on July 18 & 241 built that day. If you go to the homepage, go down to Homelite serial numbers. Open the first post there. There are charts that will help you understand the numbers.
