Hello all, quick question on my super ez, recently received a SEZ and found that the screws that hold the bottom end together, none were original and there was only one there, so I ordered new ones from Leon part # 80676 and found that the upper hole was totally stripped out, luckily the other two are good, just wondering if a helicoil would work well for this repair? The screw is a 12-24, and I have found a 12-24 kit online but I’m not sure if it’s a sound enough repair for that area or if I should just abandon the project

A properly installed helicoil will make a stronger hole than the original. I would Loctite the other 2 when you put it back together to avoid any further loose screws.

I would locktite the insert as well. The first time I used a heli coil I did not locktite the insert and it pulled out fist time I tightened a bolt into it. Possibly it was a cheap kit, but now I always put red locktite to help hold it in.

Thanks for the input, I guess I’ll buy a heli coil kit and get to it

Just out of curiosity which screws are stripped out? You mentioned “bottom end” but I can’t really picture what you mean? The rear handle assembly at the air box?
80676 is a 10-24 x 5/8” according to the IPL I have. Make sure your buying the correct coil kit or else your going to be disappointed 😢
