Tried starting my Super 2 this spring and no fire!
Spinning over with plug out will not jump plug gap. If I insert steel rod in and use drill to spin crank and hold steel rod almost touching the muffler there is a spark but has to be within maybe five to ten thousands of an inch. This is with the wire to kill switch disconnected to eliminate possible short in switch!
So guess it is obvious I need new ignition coil. Question is does anyone have good or bad luck with any of the ones sold online. Seems I'm seeing them from $10.00 to more than $20.00
The part number I'm seeing in my IPL is 94711, notice that that number seems to have a few other versions with letters after many of the ones listed online. Is this mean they are just newer versions and all are interchangeable?

You might try adjusting the coil to flywheel gap, I use a business card on the magnets and let the coil move on its own. Tighten up the screws and turn the flywheel to extract the card. Then check for spark, you might be surprised.

Then check for spark, you might be surprised. Good point, but already did that and the spark is so weak you can hold on to the plug wire while spinning the crankshaft and only feel a slight tingle. Also just for fun managed to remove the plug wire from coil and replaced with new solid wire and no improvement. Decided to bit the bullet and ordered a new ignition from an Ebay vendor for just over $16.00 including shipping. I will report back when it is installed.

Got the China ignition today and installed it on the Super 2.
Spun engine over with plug out and it had good spark.
Next put pull starter on and gave it one easy pull and it fired, was dinner time so left it set for about an hour. Then I tried starting it, took two or maybe three pulls and it fired up. Now this is a saw that has not been run since sometime last fall so to fire up that easy was a surprise!
Guess next thing would be to sometime in the next couple days put it to work cutting some fire wood.

Quick update on Super 2
today 4/14/2021
Ran full tank of fuel through saw, first start in morning took maybe 3 pulls after running when shutting off to move or load wood 1 or 2 pulls.
So unless something happens in future I am very pleased with the way the saw starts and runs!

IIRC, the latest flywheel to coil gap spec is .015". If adjusting gap to this tighter spec, (from .025",) push the flywheel toward the ignition coil before tightening the coil mounting screws.

My Super 2 has the RE 31837 coil. I'm going to try Amazon or Ebay to see if I can find one. This is just a spare saw that was given to me to see if I could get it running. I put a new duck valve in and new lines and it worked fine, but now it's dead. I will try the coil if I can find one.

Check the kill switch, it could be bad. Disconnect it from the coil and try it. Check the lead wire to the switch while you are in there and look at the ignition lead to the spark plug. All before you order that coil.

That's a good idea. My kill switch did not work to shut the saw off, so maybe it went the other way! However I did use an ohm meter and it seems to show open or closed when it is flipped. Where is a good place to get the coil if I need it? And thanks for the welcome.!
