I have quite a few of these saws, parts from a black air filter cover on the sxl-130 is there any actual difference between these saws? I know all my 130s have the HD clutch , and my 76s are spit between the HD clutch and the smaller 2-5/8" clutch

The engine is the same. I believe they both had HS-125 carbs. Not sure if the 130 had all three ignitions like the 76.
Most of the 76's had the smaller muffler while the 130 (or leas some of them) had the box shaped muffler.
Do you notice anything different when cutting with them?

I have noticed that the oilers are slightly different. The XL76’s that I have had all had a rubber hose and clamp to the bar pad as opposed to the hardline on my 130’s.....
Also I seem to recall “Tinman” saying in one of his videos that the port timing is different between the two saws.

Interesting. Most of my XL-76's have the copper line pump to bar pad. I think that was a later thing.
I'll have to look at a couple of cylinders. The 130 is an earlier saw than the 76 if the IPL dates are any indication.
The later VI 130 appears to be closer to the XL-76.
Good info. Thanks Kevin.

Think you are right on the ignition, only ever seen the prestolite blue coil on the 130s , but have one xl-76 with points like my vi200 the other 3 are prestolite electronic

Points coil with a Homelite chip.
I think I have one 76 and a Super VI200 with that set up. Not easy to find that chip if they fail
I do like the points set up the best.

Agreed, the points setup is headache free, some ppl don't points, don't know why they are reliable, even if they work I've been replacing blue coils with Husqvarna coils, such and easy mod and works perfect and cheap

The one in the pic is marked 50082 6181T401. The "1" after the 6 is questionable. It may be a 1 or a light mark. Not sure.
The other saw is my beater 76
