Hello all I’ve got a sxl 925 that’s been in the family for a while, just recently got it running after some small carb troubles. I believe it has bad crank seals due to the fact that it idles fine when in normal flat position, but almost dies when the drive case side up and revs quite high when the recoil side is rotated up, that being said I have tried replacing crank seals on a jonsereds saw with no luck if it didn’t make the problem worse, that is why I’m slightly nervous to replace the seals on my beloved 925. What I’m trying to say is dose anyone know where I can get crank seals for a sxl 925? Any important information when changing the seals to make sure I fix my problem is appreciated, and what seal I should do first because I do not like replacing anything unless it’s necessary. Thanks again

Quick update, just pressure and vacuum tested the crank case, I noticed a very slight bleed off on both pressure and vacuum. The bleed off for vacuum was about the same for pressure, for vacuum it took approx 45 seconds to go from 10 inches of vacuum to 5 inches and after 5 inches it is almost undetectable, and never really reaches 0, or at least after 3 minutes it still had not reached 0. For pressure it bled from 10 to 5 psi in about 30 seconds and barely dropped below 5 psi for about 2 minutes when I quit timing. Would this kind of leak be enough to cause the problem I stated above? Personally it seems like this slight bleed off could be a very small leak in either my pressure vac pump, the lines or in the block off plates I used made from inner tube. Any input is appreciated thanks again.

Did you use some soapy water to determine where the leak was coming from?

Well embarrassed to say I was lazy and did not take flywheel off or clutch and oil pump to inspect the seals or spray soapy water on them, during the pressure and vac test I did spray some around my block off plates and discovered a small leak near the intake block, after some tinkering with the reed valves and a inspection of the intake block and gasket, I threw the saw back together fired it up and it ran fine, still needs some tuning but idles consistently in all orientations. Now to find a new grommet for the metal tube that enters the fuel tank so I don’t pour gas down my leg again lol
