Can a Tillotson carb HS-179-a be used as a replacement on the saw that originally had a Homelite SDC 62c (walbro) carb or a Zama carb?

The SXL used all 3 brands of carbs on them. The SDC62 was used, but I don't know the model of the Zama. The Tillotson carb had 2 different models that was used on the SXL according to Acres' site - the HS4D & HS142A.If the HS179A has the same venturi & will bolt up & the linkages hook up,then I don't see why it couldn't be used.Do you know what saw the 179A carb came off from?

The Tillotson HS179A carb is for sale on ebay. The seller just informed me that it came from a red SXL saw and they rebuilt the carb. The Zama carb that I have has C2 marked on the fuel pump cover plate. Thanks for your help.

Rather than spend a ton of money on another carb, you can rebuild the Zama carb for a fraction of the cost of that Tilly carb ($10-$15).If you've never rebuilt a carb before they're really quite easy, especially with the help of kind folks here who will walk you through each step of the rebuild process.
