OK this is in appreciation of all the replies and interest. I had the lines reversed and it's a great way to introduce lots of bar oil into the crankcase... Once I got that cleared out the saw runs very well again. Still no bar oil being pumped. I took it apart again and tried to figure out what is going on. The diaphragm seemed cupped and swollen when I took it out. It may be too flexible. I don't think it was exposed to very much oil either. I'm trying to understand how this system works. I think it regulated oil delivery. As rpm increases, pulses to the diaphragm increase, and the plunger pin opens the check ball more frequently. I have a new oil pump body and ball from Leon, but I have no clue as to how it could be extracted for inspection or replacement. I suspect the tiny hole in the pump body might be restricted. I've attached tubing to the oil inlet, put WD40 in the tubing, and actuated the ball with a drill bit. It seems to me the oil should pass through as intended. It seeps. Also, if I have the diaphragm/plunger loose, and insert it and actuate the check ball, it seems to me the oil should flow from the inlet through the pump body to the oil line to the bar. I still don't want to give up! With all this time, I could have worked at McDonald's and had a new Stihl chainsaw by now....!! I hope it's OK to use Leon's diagram here. Leon's diagram
