I did some work on a friends saw and he brought me a surprise when he picked his saw up. He found a new in box vi super 2. Complete with owners manual and safety tip. Other than some dust on the saw where the box was left open this thing is mint. He believes it’s from 1979 or 1980. I figured someone would tell me with the exact date was from the serial number. I was so blown away I had to post some pics before I did anything with it.

Great little top handle saws. I redid all of mine and use them all the time, it's a part of my felling kit.

I know some would leave it in the box, but I had to put it together and fire it up.

I've been able to buy a few saws that have had very little use but have never had the pleasure of getting one new in the box. That's so cool!

Nice Time Machine there! Can we use it to get back?? I bet we could all come up with many things we would like to have saved "back in the day" if we knew then what we do now! To keep it on Homelite there was the old blue saw my dad had that while cleaning out the storage shed of a collection of old motors I let the guy taking them have it for free. Not sure of the model but know it was a good bit heavier than my Super2 that I used to cut fire wood. As far as I know it was in working condition but might have needed a carb cleaning and new points. Sorry about high-jacking the thread.
