Yep,I got another SEZ,Lol I saw it on Feebay & the price was right,I got it for $34.The saw looks to be in good shape & comes with no bar or chain, but I've got a couple bars left for the SEZ & plenty of chains.Just a little something to keep me busy during the winter months,Lol.

Nice. Post pic. Wondering what a $35 dollar SEZ looks like.👍 Hope it's not a blue coil of death and no spark. Shipping is what hurts the price of saws on flea bay, but if saw is bad you can still almost break even if you have to use it as a donor parts saw to restore others.

If so post it's picture.

I haven't gotten the saw yet,but here are some pics from the listing.I expect delivery tomorrow or Mon.It looks like it has a birthday coming up,DOM Jan.20th,either 1975 or 1985(I could be totally wrong on that). It looks like the throttle lock pin might be missing,or the decompression assembly.Either way I've got plenty of parts.I even have a good "Blue Coil of Death".(even though they're not coils)

I have as be a Super Mini with the plastic starter housing like that. It is a 1983 model. If that is the original starter cover it’s probably built after 1980...,,I think.

I think you're right, probably 1985.I thought about it after I made the post, but got busy in the garage cussing at some yellow saws,Lol.If it were a 1975 model the recoil would have the chrome screen & the saw would be red & white rather than red & black.Looking on Acres' site & there's no mention of the SEZAO with an electronic ignition module (Blue Coil of Death).

I have two red super ez saws with the blue coil. One is a full wrap western and the other is a regular half wrap. I believe both are mid to late 70s saws.

I think the blue module wasn't introduced to the SEZ till the late '70's or early '80's if I remember correctly from another thread.I could very well be wrong too.Once again,Acres' site says the SEZ was introduced in 1986 & we know that model was around way before that.

There's some inconsistencies on that saw for sure. The plastic housing would have been introduced in the very early 80's, but the air filter cover would also have been plastic originally. The serial# tag indicates a 1975 saw and I'm inclined to believe it, as the style of muffler cap is consistent with mid-70's. Homelite did sell a starter upgrade kit that included new starter pawls to adapt and older saw; my guess is that's what happened with this saw.

I did get it delivered today & haven't had the chance to really go through it yet,but there are 2 screws missing from the recoil housing that hold it onto the saw & both screws that hold the underside of the front handle are missing as well.I'll be checking it out more in a bit.BTW,the throttle lock pin is there along with all the other decomp components.

A bit of an update.I checked for spark & it didn't have any,so I pulled the recoil off & what I saw looked like a new saw inside, until I pulled the flywheel.Apparently the PO had power washed all the gunk out of the saw,but stopped at that point.Under the flywheel was so much gunk it was pathetic.I think I scraped out about a half of a handful of sawdust just to get the points box cleaned off somewhat.I pulled the entire points box off & there's probably a good handful of gunk under that. It's gonna take some cleaning to get it ready to run again.I also pulled the muffler to check the piston & cylinder & it looks good there,no scoring. The points are burnt,so I'll clean them up & put a known good condenser in tomorrow.

I find quite a few of the older EZ's that the 4 jug to block 1/2 inch nuts are not secure and will have a slight air leak at the gasket. (and this will also cause the EZ's to get tossed into the junk pile or sold on flea bay)
You can get to 1 or 2 just enough to check them with a open end wrench and if you can tighten one a 1/8 of turn they all need to be snugged up. If really loose by 1/2 turn or so the gasket may already be bad. (and the gasket leak will cause saw's carb will be erratic and it won't usually idle good or be unstable during the idle and the low jet erratic adjusting. You can take a 12 point 1/2 inch box end and thin it out slowly on a grinder using water dip to keep it cool to get to the hard to get at nuts.

Thanks for that valuable tip Okie! I didn't get the points back in yet today, too many other things going on,but I did manage to get the rest of the crud cleaned out from under where the points box sits. Not quite as much in there as I'd originally thought, but still a good bunch.I noticed that the 2 screws on the underside of the saw that hold the front handle were missing,so I went out back & got another parts saw & got the needed screws, but found I'll need to put helicoils in.The handle bracket was quite loose too.I checked to make sure there were grommets in under the screws & also made sure the screws weren't stripped, but the bracket still wobbles badly. The small plate is there & the mount shock is in good shape.I have no idea why it wobbles so much.Hopefully I'll get the helicoils & the points back in tomorrow.

I had a little time to play with putting helicoils in for the front handle today. One of the helicoils is working well, the other hole was so stripped out that a 10-32 helicoil is too small,it just turns around in the hole when I try to tighten the screw.I'm thinking of using a combination of JB Weld & a helicoil. If that doesn't work then I'll need to go up a size on the helicoil & screw.

edju1958 - Sounds like you have a pile of these SEZ's already, but I do have a parts saw that seems to be the same era as the one you picked up. Blue coil of death, and the plastic housing. If there's something you need off it, I'd be happy to send it to you for the price of postage. I'm not going to be using it. Least I can do for the helpful advice on my 925!

I appreciate the offer Jake, but I have several parts saws too.I don't give up too easily on these saws.I had just an engine with the rear handle last summer & I parted it together making one of the best SEZs I have. From automatic oil pump to the carb to the blue coil of death, all parted together & it's a great runner! Currently the saw I'm working on is a points saw.I'll keep you in mind though.Tell me,is the engine in your saw good,or is it shot?

Right on! No compression in mine. Cylinder is good as I recall, but the piston not so much. Haven't been in there for a couple years.
