I was given the above homelite chainsaw and it runs great. Made adjustments to the chain brake and that is good. However, I need a bar as the current bar has no adjustment to tension the chain. Homelite stopped making the bar and the superceeding bar also has stopped being manufactured. Can anyone help.
Thanks

What model is the saw as I don’t know the model from that it number. It’s possible the chain is stretched and you may just need a new chain. Need more info to give recommendations.

There is no adjustment on the bar itself. The adjustment of the chain is done with a tensioner screw that's located on the front of the saw, usually next to the bar on the inside of the saw.To tighten the chain you need to loosen the bar stud nuts, then turn the screw clockwise till the chain is at the desired tightness. This is usually to the point where you can pick the chain up high enough to see the bottom of the drive links (the part of the chain that rides in the groove of the bar). Then re-tighten the bar stud nuts.

I had a quick look and it's 45cc clamshell saw. Terrible owners manual which shows the chain on frontwards and backwards in several places. No mention of chain pitch or file size. Best to have a pic of his old bar and chain (20" according to the manual) to see if it's 3/8 LP or .325 pitch. If it's LP I suspect the bar is an A041 mount and if it's .325 pitch I would guess K041 mount. The saw came with either a chain tension adjust in the saw case or one of the Oregon bars with the adjuster in the bar. They still make the Intenz bars (adjuster in bar) for LP chain (not sure about .325) and they are designated as T041 Mount The manual www.manualslib.com/manual/68853/Homelite-Ut10942d.html?page=34#manual

Maybe it's just me,but isn't a 20 in.bar a bit much for a 45cc saw?If the saw has a .325 pitch chain maybe it makes a difference?Of all the saws I have,I don't have a single one that's .325 pitch.
