Anyone ever seen a 150 with this kind of side cover on it? I picked it up yesterday for $20. Gonna start cleaning it up today and get it running. I have had several, but never seen one with this kind of cover.

I've seen a cover like that. I don't know if I'd ever seen it on a saw but I think back when I worked in the shop, we had one in stock that I used to stumble over occasionally. I have that parts stock now, so I might have one. It looks very familiar.

Was that an optional extra shield?

Book says, SHIELD MUFFLER - (150 AOW), so maybe it's part of a winter kit?

I think I saw a part number on it when I was working on the saw. Let me check.

I think it’s 94071. If it’s for a winter kit I wonder what the purpose is?

We never had many 150's around here or messed with winter models or winter kits either. It's not that cold in SE Kansas. I'm guessing the AOW model is a winter model? I was guessing maybe that shield is supposed to hold some heat back but it doesn't look like it would do much.
Somebody's bound to jump in here eventually that knows something about it.

Or is that AOW for West Coast? I just noticed on the 330 IPL they list 330W and 330 Winter Unit separately.

Possibly a deflector to allow the engine to pull in warm air from around the muffler? Helps with carb icing in cold weather

I was thinking that too. Reminds me of the west coast muffler on the super ez.

Well you know what they say, the old blind sow finally found an acorn. I just had to root around a while to get there!
Ya know, here in Kansas we're actually pretty dumb about that West Coast stuff:)

She cleaned up well. New fuel line, rebuilt the carb, and new recoil cord. Popped for a second this morning when I tried it, but still a little early to run and tune it.
