My father passed away this year and my mom gave me many of his tools. As such, I have been trying to learn to actually be useful with them. I was winterizing her mower the other day and came across the first chainsaw I can ever remember seeing, my dad's old blue and white homelite (didn't know it was an xl12 until that day). It has been probably 34 years since it has seen use so I have decided to make getting this saw running again my winter project. I spent a couple hours this evening and got 95% of the crud and cobwebs off of it.
I would like to begin my project with knowing when it was built. The tag below the switch has 59025-b on the top left corner and the smaller of the two white boxes in the middle is blank. The bigger box has the numbers 30360970 stamped into it.
Thank you and I look forward to being part of this community and sharing/learning during this process.

Welcome to the House of Homelite! You came to the right place for information on repairing your saw. Lots of people with lots of experience and very helpful. Your saw should be a 1973. Someone will be along to give you the exact build date. I haven't figured out the charts yet. Sorry about your dad
