No, I'm not going to pass out Lysol for your keyboards...wrong kind of clean!
I've noticed lately that some threads have taken a turn from the original post, off onto a tangent of some sort. I'm guilty of this too and am going to make a much better effort at avoiding it. It only takes one comment to derail the original posters content and that results in "polluted" threads. One of the biggest differences between a forum like HOH and a social media site like FB is the structure. A forum is setup to neatly organize posts and information, making it easier for new folks down the road to find the info they need and easier for us legacy members to find it as well! I personally know that Google is cataloging threads from this forum into search results and it's primarily when someone has posted some hard to find or unique information....this is adding tremendous value to HOH and attracting new members.
But threads that start out with a specific topic and then devolve into banter about last weekend, USPS shipping failures, a ebay seller that didn't come through (there is a specific Feedback Forum for this type of post) or the color of Mars on a Sunday night (made that one up) will turn folks away. I know of several members that have expressed a bit of frustration with this lately, so I'll try to do a better job of going through threads and cleaning them up. But if everyone could be a little more conscious before hitting the go button, that would be very much appreciated.
To be certain, this isn't a huge problem...but one we can be aware of and improve our content a bit. I think HOH has some the best content concerning Homelite of any forum or social media site anywhere. I myself don't participate in FB much because I don't give much of a rip about the banter or what some dude had for dinner that night. I think that's a big part of what attracts people to HOH to begin with; the clean structure of a forum and the ability to cut through the BS quickly and get down to business.
Thank you all for your membership here...without you, this hobby wouldn't be nearly as much fun and rewarding!
