I would like to know the date of manufacturer and what size (brand) chain that will work I got this when my father passed away We heated our home for several years with wood that we cut and split. Not sure , but I would bet this saw cut over 500 face cord. Still runs like a champ, just need to be able to know where I can buy parts

Hi & welcome to the House of Homelite! I'm not the best at decoding the serial #s,but I believe that your saw was made on Jan.3rd,1980 & it was the 1312th unit built that day.Your saw's chain would most commonly be an Oregon 72 which is available just about anywhere - box stores,eBay,Amazon, saw shops, etc. Our administrator,Leon has a parts store & he sells other parts that may be needed. There's also Joyce aka chainsawlady who sells parts here as well.If you need any help, just give a holler.

Joyce's records show a 40030737 sn sold in January of 1973, making this saw somewhat newer as it appears to have a slightly later sn.
I think this is one of those sn's that fail the decode routine.
