As far as the fitting of the valve goes; centre the valve with the screw loose and open and close the throttle a bunch of times until the throttle centres itself and closes properly. Tighten the screw down.

Hmmm....I’m not sure but I think possibly someone has been into this carb and put a different throttle valve in it? The throttle closes properly with no valve attached. As soon as you get the valve in and lined up and tighten the center screw it starts to turn the shaft because the valve diameter seems to be slightly too big. Not sure, just a guess. Number on the valve is 34-44. I noticed that the wrong linkage was on the saw so I switched it out for a spare XL-130 linkage I had. I might just swap the whole carb out for a HS Tillotson that I have. youtu.be/c05ONJYihOU

Tillotson is by far a better carb, but there are some factors to take into account. Will the Tilly bolt up OK & the throttle & choke linkages work? Are the venturi the same on both carbs? Those accelerator pump carbs that Walbro made were a giant PITA IMO.Walbro had to complicate things even more than they already had by adding an accelerator pump to the check valves they incorporated into their carbs.Does Tillotson have any of that additional garbage on their carbs?NO! Give me a Tillotson carb any day of the week.

I’m about 99% sure that the HS Tillotson from the XL-130 saws should bolt up without too much complications. I’ll need to keep the spacer to attach the reed block to the carb. The reed block is aluminum on this saw but it’s exactly the same as the plastic reeds from the new 100 series saws...”newer lol“

I'd give it a shot then,at this point you don't have anything to lose but time.

I just looked up the throttle valve on the Walboro website and the par number listed for that SDC model is 34-44. That’s definitely the number stamped on the part in my carburetor.......so I must be messing something up with the way I reassembled. I’ll have to take another look.
