Is the Homelite Factory Service Manual a worthwhile investment($6-FleaBay) for a newbie, particularly tearing down the SEZ ? I do better with pics and guidance.... Thanks !!

Homelite released service manuals in two forms that I know. One type is model specific. I have the ones for the 150, the XL-101 to XL-104, and the EZ and EZ Automatic (not Super). The other type is is titled Homelite Shop Service Manual. This manual covers a wide variety of saws and some have construction equipment. I have Volumes 2, 3, 4, and 6. There are several ebayers that have made mini-manuals from the shop manuals. They copy the pages for specific model, doctor up a cover to make it look official and then bind it up and sell it. My volume 4 is falling apart at the binding so I was thinking about scanning in the pages for HoH form members.

Are they two different saws ? With regard to your scanning project for the factory service manuals, it would be sincerely appreciated by guys/gals like me that are new to this addiction. I would also like you to know your contributions to the tutorials are a welcome sight as well

Confused, oh come on now The "little" EZ chassis started in the late '60s. It was blue and was called an "EZ" - that's all - and at 2.1 cu in with manual oiling, it was the baby of the Homelite lineup. In fact there is one on ebay right now. It had a red big brother called the "EZ Automatic" (no Super) which of course had automatic oiling and a whopping 2.3 cu in. The Super EZ followed these two with the 2.5 cu in engine. Although they were the babies, they were not junk saws. They screamed along at 9,000 rpm and had a full metal framework.

mikem, You get to try this: Homelite Shop Service Manual This manual covers: EZ, EZ Automatic, Super EZ Automatic, EZ 250, and XL-Mini series. Clicking this link should download the file to your browser and open in a PDF embedded tab. Be patient, it is 3.5 meg. To save it, there should be a toolbar with a diskette picture. Click and save to your Homelite folder. www.keepandshare.com/doc/view.php?id=1166876&da=y

I would like a copy as well.
Trying to download it results in an error message stating that the owner of the document must give me (cjcocn) rights to the document by ("Share With").
Thanks

Hi Guys, I took the EZ manual out of shared status because I decided I didn't want to share it without some idea of who was getting it. There are so many people selling manuals on ebay I just didn't want to provide the manual so someone else could sell it. Tell us about your Homelite project and I will send you the link.

There are so many people selling manuals on ebay I just didn't want to provide the manual so someone else could sell it. Tell us about your Homelite project and I will send you the link. My Homelite project consists of about 25+ saws that I obtained as part of a "lot." Essentially they were saws that the previous owner inherited when he bought his property. He was going to throw them out until he saw my ad in the paper (I advertise in about 6 papers). The newer ones will be repaired and sold/traded for Jonsereds saws or parts. The older ones I will keep because, as it turns out, I like any saw that is old enough (I have a blue Zip and a yellow Zip that will stay with me). Also, I have roughly 2700 or 3700 saw-related documents that I share for free on another site. I also share for free during my travels when I am out buying saws and meet people who would like to (or do) do their own chainsaw servicing, but do not have manuals. If you would like to know which other site, I can PM you the site name and you can easily verify that I do share documents (I have the same username on the other site). There is a thread dedicated to sharing documents and I am one of the most active on that thread. I understand your concern about people ebay-ing those manuals. I wonder the same thing myself. I can also PM you my ebay handle and you can confirm that I have never sold a chainsaw document on ebay (I only buy NLA parts). Thanks

My reason for the Service Manual, is that my son-in law bought a Super EZ (not running) earlier this year with the intentions of working on it for home use, but he was called overseas, and his group is due back in late September (safely we hope) and I would like to try to have it ready and waiting for him. Having lost my wife last year, my family, all of them are very important to me, so anything I can do for them I will. I have worked on small engines (my own) for about 30 years, and haven't done too badly. I burn wood for heat in the winter, and my saws are like me getting on in years (touching on 70....me that is !), but our power plants are still working, and that's what counts. My two saws, are probably older than quite a few of your members, but they start and run like a charm. I'm a firm believer in "put it away clean and sharp", and after every use, they are gone over. My main saw, is an old Canadien 270.....18" bar, and using .404 chain.....just short of 30 pounds, fueled and ready to go, but cuts like a hot knife through butter, with no forcing it. My "baby" saw, again, is an oldie, a Remington Sportsman II...2.3 cu. in. with a 16" bar, and using chisel chain.......People laugh at it, but like me, it just keeps on working. I would appreciate a copy of the manual, but if you decide not to release it, I'll understand. Thank you for your time, and interesting forum. f.

I would like to say a "public" thank you to a7ecorsair for his most generous help with the manual. I hope that in some way in the future, I am able to reciprocate. f.

I am retired and on fixed income.
I have a Homelite Super EZ Auto Chain Saw that I am trying to resurrect.
I have had problems with other projects because I missed details because of no manual.
I would like a copy of the manual for personal use only.
Thanks for your consideration, Richard

Thank you Craig,
I am very new to Blogs, Forums, etc. I have been a fixer most of my life starting with a Model A when I was a kid. Pneumatic, hydrolic, electric, small engine etc. My suma was putting a Toro commercial 2 cycle engine on my snapper so I could mow slopes and still have lube. A slope at Church was very steep so I put track shoe studs on an old set of wheels and up it went.
Back to the Homelite Super EZ Auto Chain Saw Old saw inherited from a friend moving away. I either didn't get or deleted it by mistake, my fault. email should be copelandrs@hotmail.com
Thanks again, Richard
