So Ryan found that both holes were heli-coiled so he repaired both sides. Drilled, milled and stacked dimes on both sides and built it up like a tank! Now I'll put it in the Bridgeport and drill and tap the holes myself.

Nice !!! Did the welding heat affect the chrome plating in the bore ?

I've got an XL-500 that needs attention.There's a muffler stud that broke off on one side.I tried to use a reverse drill bit,but had no luck,then when I tried to drill the stud out it just pushed the stud all the way down in the boss.I tried to helicoil it,but the hole was just too big at that point.

I'm sure that if I pay your buddy from over on AS & you to redrill & tap for me it'd be much cheaper than buying a new cylinder even if I can find one.
