Does anyone know of a chart that has the recommended file size for the old obsolete Oregon chain like 1/2 and 9/16 pitch?
I would like to sharpen the 4C chain I have but do not know what file size to use.
Mike Acres site lists the chain specs but the file size is blank .

Found this info in the 1955 Oregon Cox Chipper Chain Maintenance Manual.

I was searching for a straight, non-tapered 1/4" round file to sharpen the chain on my XP1100 without success even at some shops that were in business during the old growth logging days. I finally struck gold at the closeout bin of a mom & pop hardware store. I was on a blue white cloud of 2 cycle smoke all the way home.

Those files are available on the net too, since they normally don't last forever, you may want to check out a search. There are lots of different brands.

Now if I can find a source of new 9/32 straight files I will be golden. Seems like all I can find is 1/4 inch. Has anyone found a good source?
