I am looking for tips on separating the drive side crank bearing from the case after removing the retaining screws and washers. The reason I am trying to separate the two is to make sure that bearing is clean and replace the drive side crank seal. If I succeed at those things will the bearing have to be pressed back in? Thanks in advance.

If you press or drive the crankshaft out of the housing, the bearing will come with the crank because there's a snap ring on the crank on the outside of the bearing. I usually just drive them out with a brass hammer or brass drift because I'm planning on replacing the bearing anyway. I don't recall ever reinstalling a used bearing.
You could shoot some solvent in the bearing to clean it although I don't know that I'd ever seen one dirty enough to hurt much.
And no need to remove the crank and bearing to replace the seal.

Thanks blythkd, I have to agree with the points you made. I believe the bearing is in good shape as it is tight yet turns smoothly so spraying it out with solvent should be sufficient. Any tips on replacing the seal especially installing the new one? I'm thinking if I can find the right diameter of pipe or conduit I could slip that over the end of the crank to drive the new seal in?

Whatever you use to push the seal in, make sure it is flat on the end and presses against the outer part of the seal. You do not want to distort the seal as it goes in. Steady push or light taps. Piece of cake.
